THE CLIENT
LivePerson is a global tech company that develops conversational commerce and AI software. Headquartered in New York City, they are best known for developing Conversational Cloud, a software platform that allows consumers to message with brands (picture that little chat bot at the bottom of your screen when you’re shopping or looking for help). With over 900 employees around the world, LPers bring a range of backgrounds and perspectives to their work.
THE CHALLENGE
LivePerson’s Global Head of Inclusion Strategy Catherine Goetz came to me with a challenge. She and her team wanted to celebrate diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEI&A) efforts across the company, but they had never published a report before. They had some numbers to share, a few stories, and lots of ideas. They also wanted to create a landing page on the company’s website that would highlight the most compelling elements of the report while pointing readers toward the full PDF.
OUR WORK
Content strategy: We wanted the many disparate initiatives and metrics in the DEI&A report to flow as a single story, so we turned their draft into a cohesive narrative that celebrated employee efforts while putting a stake in the ground for future impact measurement and efforts. Once we had defined core report sections, drafted quotes, and selected the right photos for inclusion, we analyzed the result, tightened language, and checked all facts.
Website landing page layout & writing: We drafted a web page wireframe that honored that goal of clear calls to action (read the report), while standing on its own as a source of knowledge and celebration of DEI&A at LivePerson. We then wrote compelling and concise web copy to bring the new design to life.
Social media promotion strategy: With LivePerson’s core audience in mind, we drafted an Instagram and LinkedIn strategy that included suggested posts and captions to inspire customers, employees, and prospective employees to learn more about impact at LivePerson.
IMPACT
LivePerson’s first-annual DEI&A report (published in October 2023) was celebrated by internal employees and reshared and engaged with on both LinkedIn and Instagram. It formed the basis for future measurement of impact efforts and inspired an even more thoughtful focus on DEI&A for the entire company.
