Highlighting the people behind a successful private equity firm

“Becca is a wonderful thought partner. Not only is she an exceptional writer and copy editor, but her partnership has been instrumental for building out our firm’s brand. Becca isn’t just a writer. She digs into each project and helps us understand what our goals are and how we can best message our story to the world. As a result, Becca has become a vital extension to our team and one of our most trusted branding partners.”

AUDREY HARRIS, ALPINE MARKETING

The Client

Alpine investors is a San Francisco-based private equity firm on a mission to create exceptional businesses by investing in exceptional people.

The Challenge

After 20 years in operation, Alpine was proud of the incredible people who came through their doors. They had published case studies and blog posts themselves, but wanted to find a creative way to celebrate their people while attracting more top-tier applicants.

The Alpine Stories Project

Working with Alpine’s marketing team we dreamed up The Alpine Stories Project, a series of Q&A- and narrative-style blog posts that highlight Alpine operators, investors, and founding team members. Our stories explore career paths, leadership challenges, company culture, and the many learning opportunities available to Alpine employees, CEOs-in-residence, and CEOs-in-training.

Over the past three+ years I’ve interviewed more than 40 Alpiners and portfolio company executives. Here are a few of my favorite stories.

The Impact

Engaging interviews and editorial-style writing transformed our casual conversations into insightful stories that gained viral readership on LinkedIn and served as an honest and creative recruiting tool. Internally, company stories became a form of celebratory recognition and a way for colleagues to connect and get to know each other in a new way.

What’s Next?

We continue to grow together. As Alpine raises additional funds and expands on the firm’s expertise, our monthly work together includes writing people stories, editing reports, and one-on-one writing coaching with Alpine team members and executives.
